Project Site Manager

 About the job

As a Project Site Manager, you will be responsible for organizing, executing and managing construction Projects that range in scope and complexity for Customers in the Eastern Region.

 Your tasks will include:

  • Review job quotation with Estimator and Salesman to ensure everything is included and details are correct.
  • Work with the customer to schedule the job timing and the required lock-out of their equipment.
  • Complete a Pre-Job Hazard Assessment checklist before work starts on site.
  • In partnership with Construction Coordinator, organize Job Safety Assessment, foremen, local labor and required contractors for all tasks to be performed.
  • Check whether a "Notice of Project" is required for the Ministry Of Labour.
  • Review, with the customer representative on site, the lock-out and job scope of work.
  • Review the JSA's and lock-out procedures required.
  • Review daily site H&S documentation for completion and accuracy
  • Check all equipment is functioning correctly and resolve any equipment problems.
  • Initiate any corrective actions required to correct hazardous H&S or non-compliant situations and ensure follow-up is completed.
  • Attend any customer coordination meetings. Review meetings with foremen.
  • Assist with any accident investigations and arrange any First Aid or Medical assistance, if required.
  • Keep workers motivated; resolve any problems or conflicts.
  • Keep track of material usage vs. planned work and track the remaining inventory on site of all RHI material and equipment. Ensure customer is correctly invoiced for it.
  • Make sure the customer is satisfied with work completed. Get customer sign-off on completion.
  • Arrange for transport back to RHI of all equipment, materials and H&S paperwork.
  • Give feedback to the Estimating Department regarding the accuracy of the quotation compared to the actual job.
  • Complete a Refractory Inspection and Acceptance Form (RHI-Q 110) to summarize the finished project and submit it to the customer.
  • Take part in a Critique Meeting with relevant customer personnel, RHI Salesman and appropriate RHI Manager, as required.

 About you

You have a proven track record of leading projects, people and processes. You are an innovative, creative, critical and analytical thinker who aspires to deliver. Health and Safety is your top priority and ensuring your staff return home to their families every day. You are a team player who enjoys traveling up to 30% of your time for this role.

 In addition, you have:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 3 years in the refractory installation or construction industry sector.
  • Must be fully bilingual
  • 3 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • API 936 #27763 Certification is an asset but not required
  • Management of unionized employees is an asset
  • Understanding and application of relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Good understanding of the Refractory Construction Project process
  • The ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings (AutoCAD)
  • Good knowledge of refractory materials and applications
